At the 2024 Disaster Management & Incident Response Digital Symposium, hosted by IWCE’s Urgent Communications and American City & County, ROK Technologies participated in a panel discussion centered around Optimizing Emergency Response and gif ti Locate and Assess Incidents Quickly.
Public safety historically has responded to calls for help with relatively little information about the incident in question or the status of those involved—even the location has proven to be a guessing game when the emergency caller used cellular systems. Modern solutions promise to transform this oft-frustrating reality, as technology can allow the location of an incident to be pinpointed and managed in a geographic information system (GIS), supporting more efficient response efforts and minimizing jurisdictional confusion.
In addition to the location and verbal description provided by the caller, responders could have access to telematics, smart-building and other information from IoT sensors at the scene, as well as video from relevant fixed and mobile cameras. Such situational awareness can help responders achieve better outcomes as quickly as possible when they arrive at the scene. This is all technologically possible.
In this webinar, the expert panel explore the challenges associated with getting these valuable inputs into an emergency-call center, processing them efficiently, and delivering the most important findings to responders in the field.
